How to Create a Custom Summer Welcome Sign

If you’re anything like me, you welcome the change in holidays as well as the seasons because it means a quick switcheroo to front door decor!  Since my door is black, it’s the perfect blank slate to swap out decor!

For this project, I created a custom welcome sign.  Creating custom signs is the absolute best since it makes it truly one-of-a-kind!  I used a circle craft shape and custom script lettering from CraftCuts. I also used the vinyl flower decals, which were the perfect accent to this simple, yet chic summer welcome sign.  You can also snag a discount with code: MEGHAN10!

SUPPLIES

  • 16” Circle Craft Shape

  • Custom Script Lettering

  • Black Floral Wall Decals

  • Beacon Multi-Grip Adhesive

  • Painter’s Tape

  • Foam Paint Brush

  • Acrylic Paint (Moss Green and Black)

  • Twine

  • Scissors

  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue

  • Craft Knife

Step 1: Add painter’s tape to the bottom section of the circle.

Step 2: Add green paint to the bottom portion and let it dry.  Add a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Remove the painter’s tape.

Step 4: Remove a vinyl flower and add it above the green.  I placed mine so a little bit was on the green.

Step 5: Use a craft knife to trim the bottom.  Continue adding flowers and staggering them so some are tall and some are short.  Again, use a craft knife to remove the portion in the green painted area.

Step 6: Using a foam paint brush, add black paint to the “welcome” word and let it dry.

Step 7: Add black paint to the last name and “family” wood pieces.

Step 8:  Using a paint brush, add adhesive to the back of the “Welcome”.  Then, glue it to the wood portion on the sign.

Step 9: Repeat step 6 for the last name and “family” wood pieces.  Then, glue to the center of the green area on the sign.

Step 10:  Flip the sign over and add a large dot of hot glue.  Tie a knot in a piece of twine and place it in the glue.  Once the glue is dry, add hot glue on top to make sure it’s secured.
