How to Make a Custom Name Sign
Step 1: Add a coat of stain to the letters. Use a cloth to wipe off excess. Let it dry. Add an additional coat of stain if needed.
Step 2: Make a pom-pom. This is the tutorial I used to create my pom-pom maker. Wrap the yarn around the pom-pom maker about 50-60 times.
Step 3: Place the scissors in between the two pieces of cardboard and cut the yarn loops.
Step 4: Cut a piece of yarn about 7 inches long, run it between the two pieces of cardboard. Tie a double knot to hold the yarn in place.
Step 5: Trim the yarn into a smaller circle. Continue trimming until you are left with a nice ball shape.
Step 6: Make 3 brown pom-poms and 2 cream pom-poms.
Step 7: Add glue to the back of the word.
Step 8: Glue it to the center of the circle.
Step 9: Glue the pom-poms (alternating colors) to the outer ring.
Step 10: Add glue to the back of the ribbon and glue it in-between the cream and brown pom-poms on the end.
Step 11: Tie a knot at the end of a 12” piece of twine. Add a drop of glue to the knot and glue it to the back of the circle shape. Add more hot glue on top, securing it in place.
Step 12: Wrap the top part of your twine around the outer ring twice. You’ll need to play around with this to make sure the twine is centered and the circle piece is in the center of the outer ring.
Step 13: Add glue to the bottom of the circle shape.
Step 14: Press the top part of the pom-poms into the glue. This will help secure the wood circle in place.
