DIY Heart and Tassel Garland
I’ve really gotten into the Valentine’s Day decorating spirit. My shelves in my living room are all decked out in red and pink to welcome the day of love. Most of the projects I did this year were created from my Cricut machine. To say that I am obsessed with this guy would be an understatement! I’m pretty sure all but 3 of my Valentine’s Day decor projects were created out of paper using my Cricut machine!
For my garland, I wanted to incorporate yarn tassels and pipe cleaners. I had a ton of white pipe cleaners left over from my Christmas tree.I also had some red pom-poms from this same project so I figured I would throw them in as well. I love using up supplies I already have – it means less craft supplies collecting dust! Get all of the details below on how I made my cute little DIY Heart and Tassel Garland!
Supplies:
White pipe cleaners
Twine
Pink and Red Yarn
Needle
Scissors
Red Pom-Poms
Small Hole Punch
Pink Cardstock
Heart Hand Punch (or use an electronic die cutting machine
First create tassels. I just wrapped my yarn around two of my fingers to create these small tassels. Trim them down to the size you want.
Next, cut pipe cleaner in half. Fold it in half. Use your fingers to cure the top to create a heart and tie a tassel on the bottom.
Cut out paper hearts measuring approximately 2 inches wide and punch holes at the top.
Add a needle to the end of your twine. Push it through a pom-pom. Then, run it behind one of your paper hearts. Finally run it behind the top of your pipe cleaner heart so the sides rest on the twine. Repeat these steps until you add all of your garland components and you get your desired length!
