How to Make a Paper Wreath

A few years ago, my mother-in-law gave me some birchwood printed paper. I guess at one point I had told her she could get the look of a birchwood frame by buying birchwood printed paper and adding it to a frame as opposed to actually buying the real deal. I must have had a few glasses of wine because I do not remember this convo at all! Either way, she ended up not using the paper and gave it to me to use it for a project. I’ve had this paper forever and finally decided to use it!

I knew I wanted to add a Fall wreath to my front door. Now, I wasn’t really feeling a traditional wreath; I wanted something different. I came up with an idea using a large pinwheel, a berry wreath, and a small pinwheel. At first, I was going to use a small stick wreath I had bought at Joann’s, but as I got into my project I decided to go another route. I think my pinwheel wreath looks very Pottery Barn-esque, except is was super cheap to make! Total cost was less than $7.00! After I hung my wreath up, I thought it would have been cute to round the edges of my pinwheels for added design. Oh, well. I have enough paper left that if I get motivated I may go this route. We will see! ;)

 Supplies:

– 12×12 Birchwood Printed Paper

– Small Round Fall Berry Wreath (I found mine at Joann’s)

– Small Stick Wreath (I decided to go another route!)

– Glue Gun and Glue

– Scissors

– Hole Punch (1/8 inch)

– Wire

Step 1: Take one piece of paper and fold it over about an inch, flip it over and fold it over an inch. Repeat this until your entire piece of paper has been folded and looks like an accordion.

Step 2: Cut 1 & 1/2 inches off the bottom of your paper (this is where you would round the edges if you would rather go that route).

Step 3: Continue Steps 1 and 2 on three more pieces of paper. Then, glue the ends of your paper together. Once glued together, glue the two remaining ends together, forming a circle (or pinwheel).

Step 4: Glue your berry ring to the center of your large pinwheel. Create a smaller pinwheel (follow steps 1-3). Cut your strips of paper so they are 1 1/2 inches. Then, glue it to the center of your berry wreath.
